The LSEF student sponsorship program is centered in Uganda, Africa. Uganda sits at the equator and experiences 12 hours of daylight and average daily temperatures of 78 degrees Fahrenheit (26 degrees Celsius). The rainy season lasts from March through May and October through November. The warmer dry season typically extends from June through September and December through February.

The LSEF team and our primary and secondary level students are mainly situated around the village of Nkokonjeru in central Uganda. Nkokonjeru is approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) southeast of the capital city of Kampala. Most of our post secondary and University level students are in programs near Jinja and Kampala. The name Nkokonjeru means "white chicken" in English.

The U.S. based LSEF team lives and works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Milwaukee is 90 miles north of Chicago and is situated on the western shore of Lake Michigan. The city has a population of 600,000. Milwaukee experiences all four seasons with varying average temperatures and precipitation based on the season.
